A two-stage online programme that takes you from cutting your first strips to finishing a full-size patchwork quilt, one clear lesson at a time.

You have probably seen a beautiful quilt and wondered how all those small pieces fit together so precisely. From the outside it looks like a secret that only experienced makers know. Many people watch videos for months and still do not dare to cut into good fabric.
The problem is usually not a lack of talent. Short clips show a trick here and a block there, but they rarely show the whole path: how to prepare fabric, cut accurately, keep seam allowances even, choose colours and finish a real item. Theory stays theory until you have a system to follow.
This programme gives you that system. It moves from simple to complex, and each lesson prepares you for the next. You do not end up with a pile of sample squares. You finish usable pieces, starting with a child's quilt and moving on to a full-size one.
It is made for people of any age who like working with their hands. Some of them have sewn for years, and some have never threaded a machine for patchwork. The lessons explain every small detail so that you can follow along calmly at home.
Learn how to handle the cutter and ruler and prepare strips and shapes that fit together.
Build the foundation blocks that most traditional quilts are made from.
Finish a complete item rather than a set of practice pieces.
Choose fabrics that work together and see why a block succeeds or fails.
Move on to more complex block construction in the second stage.
Bring texture and detail into your patchwork pieces.
Learn the stitching that holds the quilt together and gives it its look.
Apply everything you have learned to a project you can use or give as a gift.
Learn to see where a seam has drifted and how to correct it.
Each school ends with a real project. In the first, you sew a child's patchwork quilt using the blocks and skills you have just practised. In the second, you make a full-size quilt with more advanced techniques.
Working toward a finished item changes how you learn. You cannot skip the uncomfortable lessons, because the next step depends on them. Practice has a purpose, and you end up with something you can be proud of.
Each lesson also comes with homework, so you apply the technique straight away instead of only watching it.
Simple-to-complex lesson order. A finished quilt at the end of each school. Homework after the lessons. Written descriptions with diagrams.

The programme is delivered online as video lessons. Each lesson is divided into short, focused parts, so you can stop and sew between them. You work at your own pace on your own sewing machine, at the time that suits you, with no travel.
Every lesson comes with a written description, diagrams and instructions. If you miss a detail, you can replay a section as many times as you need. Many learners find it helpful to watch once, then sew with the video open beside them.
The first school covers the basic techniques of patchwork and the ten basic blocks. The second school moves to advanced techniques, appliqué, three-dimensional elements and quilting. You can begin with the first school and continue when you are ready.
Two schools, 56 lessons, and three bonus projects. Both schools build toward a finished quilt.

Twenty full-length lessons covering basic patchwork techniques and ten core blocks.
Thirty-six extended lessons on advanced patchwork, appliqué and quilting.
One bonus from the basic school and two from the advanced school.
Text descriptions with schemes and instructions for each lesson.
Tasks that let you practise every new technique.
Replay any lesson as often as you like.
Guidance while you work through the lessons.

By the end of the first school, you will have sewn a child's patchwork quilt and know the basic blocks well enough to recognise how a quilt is built when you see one. You will cut more accurately, press with purpose and choose fabric combinations more confidently.
After the second school, you will be able to work with advanced mosaic techniques, appliqué and quilting, and to complete a full-size quilt. You will be able to look at a complex design and break it down into its parts.
Most importantly, you will have a skill that lasts. You can make gifts, home textiles and bags, and keep developing your own style one project at a time.
It depends on how quickly you sew. Many learners spend a few hours a week watching lessons and sewing. You set the pace, so you can go faster or slower as your schedule allows.
