Why a senior client is not a bigger version of your usual client

You already run career consultations. Your clients bring you CVs, job-search questions, doubts about a next step. Then one day a director or a C-level manager sits across from you — and the conversation is different. The request is shorter and less explicit. The stakes are higher. The person in front of you has hired people, negotiated budgets and made decisions you are now supposed to comment on.

Most consultants respond by doing more of what they already know: a longer résumé review, a broader list of job boards, more encouragement. It rarely lands. Senior clients do not buy effort, they buy a clear reading of their situation — the market they are in, the stage their company has reached, the competencies they are actually judged on, the risks of the move they are considering.

This programme was built around that gap. It teaches the business context of executive careers first, then the tools and services that follow from it: diagnostics, résumé and cover-letter work for senior roles, interview and offer preparation, crisis and identity work, internal career development, and the packaging of all of it into paid services and long-term contracts.

The material is delivered as recorded lessons with worksheets, checklists and worked case studies, so you can move through it at your own pace and return to any tool the moment a real client needs it.

What you will be able to do

By the end of the programme you will have a working method for each stage of a senior career consultation.

  • Read the business context of a client

Understand how companies at different stages of development create and close career opportunities.

  • Identify requests of middle and top managers

Recognise the three levels of client request and the competencies each one demands from you.

  • Structure a consultation that holds up with executives

Use a clear sequence from first contact to agreed next step, with tools for building trust and asking precise questions.

  • Audit and rewrite a senior résumé

Work with achievements, adaptation to a specific vacancy and the expectations of the people who read executive CVs.

  • Prepare a client for interviews and an offer

Cover negotiation structure, compensation systems and the conversations that happen after the interview.

  • Diagnose career crises and identity questions

Distinguish age, cyclical and values crises, and use the narrative interview to work with professional identity.

  • Map stakeholders and plan an adaptation

Build a stakeholder map, an adaptation plan and a career SWOT for a client staying inside a company.

  • Package, price and sell your services

Describe each service, set a price, run a diagnostic session and propose a long-term contract.

The method: context before tools

The programme is built on a simple order of work. Before you offer a tool, you understand the world your client operates in: the labour market and its trends, the stage their company has reached, the level of management they sit at and the competencies that level is judged on. Only then do you choose an intervention — a résumé audit, a search strategy, a crisis conversation, an internal career plan.

Two frameworks run through the whole course. The first is a map of managerial competencies and metaprograms by level of management, so you can tell what a director and a first-tier leader are actually measured on and ask questions that reveal it. The second is spiral dynamics, used to read both clients and organisations: why the same advice lands with one manager and bounces off another.

Every service in the programme is demonstrated end to end. You see how a diagnostic session is opened, how a résumé audit is presented, how a career strategy is shaped inside a single conversation, and how the session is closed with a proposal rather than a vague promise to stay in touch.

How the course works

The programme is fully self-paced. Lessons are recorded video sessions you watch when it suits you, supported by written summaries, worksheets and checklists for each tool. There are no scheduled calls and no live group meetings, so you are not tied to a calendar or a time zone.

Each module ends with a practice assignment built on a written case: a manager who has been searching for a year, a specialist in conflict with their manager, a director considering an internal move. You apply the module's tools to the case, compare your reasoning with the worked solution and keep the resulting document as a template for real work.

The material stays available after you finish, including all updates to the lessons and templates. Most people work through a module every week or two and come back to specific lessons when a client brings a question the course covers.

From the last lesson to your first paid contract

A course about consulting for executives is only useful if it changes what you do on Monday. That is why the final module is not a summary but a build: you write the description of each service you plan to offer, decide what it includes and how long it takes, and set a price you can defend in a conversation.

You also prepare the two sessions that carry most of the commercial weight. The diagnostic session, where you establish what the client actually needs and whether you are the right person for it. And the proposal session, where a single consultation becomes a longer piece of work — a supported job search, a career plan, an adaptation programme.

Alongside this, the course covers the quieter mechanics of a credible practice: how to describe your experience to a senior audience, how to handle the objection that you have never worked in their industry, and how to prepare for a client from a sector you do not know. The lessons give you a repeatable preparation routine rather than a list of industries to memorise.

Is this course for you?

This course is for you if…

  • Career consultants who already work with specialists and managers and want to move into the senior segment
  • Coaches and mentors who receive career requests and want a structured method for them
  • HR professionals and internal career advisers who support managers and successors
  • Consultants with a corporate background who want to turn their knowledge of how companies work into a service

Probably not a fit if…

  • Complete beginners looking for a first introduction to coaching or counselling skills
  • People who want ready-made job placements or guaranteed client referrals
  • Anyone looking for a short overview of the profession rather than a working method
  • Recruiters who only need sourcing and screening techniques

After the course

You finish with a described and priced set of services, a consultation structure you can run without improvising, and a set of documents you can send to a client the same week: a résumé audit format, a search strategy outline, a career plan template, a stakeholder map.

You also finish with a different way of listening. When a director says they are thinking about leaving, you will hear the questions underneath — the stage of the company, the competencies at stake, the identity the person has built around the role, the risk they are underestimating.

That shift is what makes senior clients come back and recommend you. The programme cannot promise you a specific income or a client list, but it gives you the context, the language and the tools to be genuinely useful in a room where the stakes are high.

Questions before you buy

How much time does the course take?

Plan on three to four hours per module, including the practice assignment. The full programme is 26 lessons across five modules, and you can spread it over several weeks or work through it faster.

Do I need experience as a career consultant?

It helps. The programme is written for people who already consult, coach or advise on careers, or who have a corporate background and want to move into this work. If you have never run a consultation, the first module gives you the structure, but the pace assumes some familiarity with helping conversations.

How do I get access after payment?

As soon as the payment is confirmed you receive an email with your access details. The lessons open immediately in your account and you can start with any module.

What is the refund policy?

You have 14 days from purchase to request a refund. If the programme is not what you expected, contact support within that period and the payment is returned.

What format are the lessons in?

Recorded video lessons with written summaries, worksheets, checklists and worked case studies. Each service covered in the course is demonstrated end to end so you can see the sequence, not just the theory.

Are there live sessions or calls?

No. The programme is entirely self-paced and recorded, with no scheduled meetings. That means no time-zone constraints and no need to rearrange your week around a calendar.

How long do I keep the material?

Access does not expire. Lessons, templates and worksheets stay in your account, including updates made to the programme later.

Will this course bring me clients?

No course can guarantee clients. What the programme does is help you describe, price and present your services clearly, run a diagnostic session and propose a longer contract — the parts of client acquisition you control.

Do I need to know the industries my clients work in?

Not in advance. The course includes a preparation routine for working with an unfamiliar sector, and the business-context module shows how to read a company quickly enough to ask useful questions.
